Chris Schofield joins Pitchblack as Creative Partner

Chris Schofield, former Group CD of Ogilvy NZ, has been appointed to Pitchblack as Creative Partner.

Schofield says of the initial phone call: “To be honest, I was bummed that it wasn’t Pitch Black, the acclaimed drum and bass duo from Christchurch on the phone. Those cats set the world on fire back in the day with their jazzy, homegrown electro. But Pitchblack the creative agency in Auckland is a good option, mostly because I won’t have to move to Christchurch thank god, and noone really listens to drum and bass much anymore, anyway.”

He continues: “Jokes aside, Josh Moore (Principal Partner and CCO) is a long-time friend and former colleague, and I couldn’t be more excited about joining the Pitchblack family. Amongst my peers in the industry, Josh was always the one to watch, and you’ll not find a more driven and dynamic creative leader than him.

“The Pitchblack model is unlike anything I’ve been involved with. Their in-house production company, Jetblack, enables collaborative and effective ways of working for creatives and most importantly clients. Which to me is the future of adland. The growth and success Josh and the team have seen in 3 short years is proof of that.”

Moore says he’s known Chris since they were juniors, and believes he’ll bring a lot to the agency other than dad jokes and sarcasm. He’s had a hand in many of NZ’s most memorable advertising moments, including Pak n’ Save ‘Stickman’, and Vogel’s ‘What do you bring to the table?’. And while PitchBlack continues to grow at pace with their entrepreneurial approach to business and creativity, the biggest draw card for Chris is just how handy the agency is to the Vic Park skatepark, where he can often be found attempting to re-live his glory days as a pro skateboarder with his two endlessly rad daughters, Ava and Pearl.
