Having read the linked newsletter I am a bit worried about the whole 7-14 year old survey data. There is no source given for the data, but I have a suspicion that this may be an online survey. Online surveys are notoriously unreliable for any media consumption measures as they over represent online behaviour (obviously as the sample are all online) and adoption of technology (mobile phones).
I will happily stand corrected if this survey was conducted face to face or by phone.

Thanks for the comments, Researcher, but you will get a better response if you include your real name.
We don't want to discourage commenters by making real names compulsory but it really lifts the quality of the debate if you can ID yourself.
I will encourage Michael to reply but I suspect he'll want to dialogue with a real person.

As noted in the article, the research was conducted by The Cartoon Network amongst Kiwis 7-14. What we didn't mention, for reasons of space, was that the research was conducted face to face, with the kids AND their parents. We didn't attribute the research to any source other than The Cartoon Network because we don't yet have that detail; but we're comfortable (based on the presentation by CN) that the data was both robust and representative.

Hi guys, if this is the same survey done by Cartoon Network titled "New Generations 2009" then it has actually been cited in the media as being an online survey of 616 Kiwi kids between the ages of 7 – 14. This could be the cause of confusion for the mystery person, known only as "Researcher". Personally, if I was going to give myself an alter ego I would go with something more provocative like… The Phantom…. or Mr R. Hide. Mind you researchers have never been known for their creative panache. Michael, flick me a note if you want the link to the media release.
