Billboard pushes boundary
In a similar fashion to its NZ Pure billboard at the Auckland airport, Boundary Road Brewery and Barnes, Catmur & Friends’ have launched a cheeky new billboard for its new Lawn Ranger brew and referenced the recent spate of trademark bullying.
With DB winning the rights to use the generic term “radler”, the billboard on the Southern motorway near Ellerslie raises the finger to DB and brings a smile to passing motorists.
It’s also proved a hit on its Facebook page, along with another photo causing much mirth there, about the variety of beers in the All Blacks’ chugging changing room, something we pointed out a few days ago.
No word on how “fine” DB are with the campaign. Or on how the powers that be feel about a commercial entity manipulating an image for its own benefit.

I've boycotted Monteiths ever since the Radler dispute… (fortunately there is STOKE as a better tasting and superior option in any case) The so-called 'Monteiths Radler' simply isn't a Radler and it's like DB trademarking Pilsener and making an IPA and sticking a Pilsener label on it – it's a travesty and crime against brewing.
A 'Radler-style' beverage is a lighter (usually 2.5%) and very refreshing alternative to a full strength beer (very common in Europe) and as soon as I see a dozen I'll be buying Lawn Ranger Brew.
Perhaps the DB folk can take a suggestion from Trevor Mallard about where to store their product.

OK then, I'll use the voucher I got from the Boundary Rd beer-tasters promo to try it – no wait, they cocked that up didn't they?

Won the court battle for use of Radler but loosing the hearts and throats of beer lovers. I find it good for the soul sometimes to admit that I might have been a dick about something. As a wise sage said to me once "you can be right all of the time, but you wont be happy"
