Winning MasterCard’s PR business: priceless

MasterCard Worldwide has appointed Acumen Republic as its New Zealand communications agency after a competitive pitch and it will manage MasterCard’s corporate, consumer and government relations, as well as marketing communications activity for its sponsorship of Rugby World Cup 2011 and the All Blacks.

PPR was the incumbent but no-one from Acumen Republic knew who was involved in the pitch and MasterCard’s corporate affairs and communications manager Alana Morton was unable to be contacted.

“It is a great way to start the year and significantly adds to our financial services practice,” says Acumen Republic managing director Michael Dunlop. “This is a particularly busy year for MasterCard and we are looking forward to this new collaboration.”

Acumen Republic has offices in Auckland, Wellington and now Sydney, and with 40 staff is New Zealand’s largest independent corporate and marketing communications agency.
