Loyalty New Zealand, the operator of Fly Buys, has signed a contract with Universal Music New Zealand, upping the number of songs available to download on Fly Buys Music – and be paid for with Fly Buys points – to 280,000.

Loyalty New Zealand head of marketing and product development Chris Lamers says an increasing chunk of the 2.2 million Fly Buys card holders are choosing to turn their points into music.

“We’re seeing music downloads grow in popularity as rewards. 65 percent of all music is now available on Fly Buys Music, including artists from two of the main music industry players, Sony and Universal.

Adam Holt, Managing Director for Universal Music New Zealand, says this relationship is an excellent way to redeem points and a fresh and innovative way to access music.

  • 30, 60 or 90 song download vouchers will set you back 260, 500 and 720 Fly Buys Points. Vouchers are valid for a year from redemption and can also be used as gifts. The voucher is emailed directly with a link to flybuysmusic.co.nz to begin downloading. When you’ve added the songs you’d like to your cart, click Download. The music is DRM-free in MP3 format, encoded at MP3 256 Kbps or higher, so it’s very close to CD quality, and compatible with almost all portable players and devices including iPods.
