karl stevenDid anyone listen to Karl Steven’s debut on Kiwi FM on Sunday? The Supergroove frontman hosts The Kiwi House from 5–6pm, with replays on Thursdays at 3pm. He interviews well known Kiwis and they play their favourite tunes. Steven’s first guest was Dave Gibson from ElemenoP, and upcoming guests include Tyra Hammond, Mike Chunn and Tim Shadbolt.

Aprés Supergroove, Steven has been producing other artists, composing music for screen and playing harmonica. He also had to grow a pencil-thin moustache to complete his PhD in Ancient Greek and Roman philosophy from Cambridge University.

For interviews with interesting peeps, StopPress recommends Peter Urlich’s Bright & Urlich show on 95bFM, Saturday morning’s from 9–11am. Urlich has had some great yarns with famous Kiwis the likes of Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn, Antonia Prebble and Kerry Spackman. (He’s decidedly more compos mentis than his appearance at the Battle of the Ad Bands judging table at the Kings Arms last week.)

Our favourite radio show on Sunday is Earshot with Cian on George FM, 10–12 midday. Minimum chat, maximum grooves – a perfect domestic Sunday soundtrack, whether you’re slumbering, hoovering or nursing a hangover. Cian’s laconic London lilt is as cool as his music selection. And he doesn’t interrupt songs to respond to a text message – aargh, hate that!
