Ah Novus. The Auto Glass Repair and Replacement company behind one of the more divisive ads in recent history. This week Novus launches another campaign – again urging us to show them our crack. It is equally as, ahem, memorable, and looks to be made with much the same budget as the original. But this one comes with the chance to win a trip for two to the ultimate crack – The Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. So get cracking and enter here. (ps you don’t need to send in an actual photo of one’s crack. There is an online entry form. Sorry about that Novus. Could you please just delete that email attachment I sent earlier? Read more »

What message would you give the love of your life, if you had the chance for it to be displayed on a billboard over two metres high, for everyone to see? This year, Westfield is giving everyone, not just out-of-home aficionados, the chance to take part in this ultimate display of public affection. And one winner will also receive a shiny sparkly diamond ring, to the value of $5999 from Michael Hill. Yuss. Read more »

Plastic is bad, mmmkay. And SodaStream NZ, with the help of the PR Shop, is following in the footsteps of overseas markets and using shock and awe tactics to show it, with a large travelling cage filled with 2,000 empty cans and bottles that aims to visually represent the average amount used by a Kiwi household in a three-year period, educate the locals about the world’s recycling problem and, of course, show that SodaStream is a better, eco-friendly option. Every year, tickets to one of the best events on New Zealand’s sporting calendar, the Wellington Sevens, sell out in minutes. The 2012 edition, which now has Hertz as naming rights sponsor, has already sold out, but never fear, because our cauliflower-eared friends at NZ Rugby World have got a couple of tickets to give away. All you need to do is send a message from your brain to your fingers, click here and fill in a few details. Then, if you win, you just have to come up with an amazing costume idea like this. Annabel Langbein recently shacked up with Silver Fern Farms in an effort to peddle more of its meaty wares. And we’ve got a couple of copies of her Free Range in the City book to give away. Just tell us what Christmas delights you’re planning to feast upon and imbibe this year. In addition to the books, six lucky carnivores can win a private dinner party at Langbein’s Auckland house, including return flights and accommodation, by picking up some Silver Fern Farms’ lamb or venison before February and entering online using the unique code found on specially marked packs. Visit www.bestcutsbestrecipes.co.nz for more information.

Aah Christmas, what’s not to love? Parties, presents, yummy treats. But gifts aren’t always what you want, take reindeer sweaters, or singing fish ornaments for example. To make up for the bitter disappointment such gifts bring, we have two $50 gift cards to give away, for Subway and GrabOne. Read more »

Christmas is rapidly approaching and we all know what that means: it’s going to rain. So what better way to survive a Kiwi summer than with a Blunt umbrella, the Kiwi invention developed by Greig Brebner that’s designed to stand up to Wellington-esque conditions, won’t poke anyone’s eyes out and has been coveted by the likes of Wired and Men’s Health. We’ve got two of the virtually unbreakable XL numbers in blue valued at $110 to give away to a couple of lucky StopPressers and, because New Zealanders love nothing more than talking about the weather, all you have to do is tell us about an occasion when a bad dose of it ruined something, be it a wedding, a shoot, a bar mitzvah or maybe even a base jump. Collaborations between musicians and artists have brought us some of the most memorable pop culture images of the last 50 years. Think iconic images such as the Sex Pistols’ God Save The Queen, or The Velvet Underground and Andy Warholʼs famous collaboration. And now Beck’s is looking do the same by revamping a series of limited edition labels with the help of local talent. Read more »

We knew it was going up for sale after a glittering career spent promoting the nation in some of the world’s busiest urban hubs. But we still had to laugh when we saw this unusual item come up on the government tender site last night. Only in New Zealand, you might say. Although it’s a shame it’s not on TradeMe. We think you creative types will be able to come up with a few interesting ideas for the next phase of the magnificent Giant Rugby Ball (imagine how impressed your clients would be if you had your Christmas party in this bad boy) and the best suggestion wins themselves a subscription to NZ Rugby World, some Cadbury chocolate and a new book by Jack Ralston and Steve Kilgallon The Sports Insider. The 24 Hour Movie Marathon is now the Fatso 24 Hour Movie Marathon after the online DVD rental company took up headline sponsorship of the event dedicated to true film buffs with a minimum two year commitment. This year marks the 12th annual event and it has once again been masterminded by film aficionado, producer and distributor Ant Timpson. Sadly, the event on Saturday 19 November at Auckland’s Hollywood Cinema has already sold out, so we can’t give away any tickets, but Fatso is offering a prize pack to help you replicate it all at home with a free three month Super Plan subscription, a Movie Marathon t-shirt and a Fatso Movie Marathon poster, designed by the immensely talented Tane Williams. So add a strange name for a movie to the comment wall (here’s some inspiration) and it could all be yours. Read more »
