Name our horse, win tickets to Ostro’s Melbourne Cup soiree

While trying to buy the latest Ken Ring book, StopPress inadvertently put a thoroughbred on the company credit card instead. So help us give it an appropriate name and the best suggestion will win two tickets worth $95 to the Melbourne Cup festivities at Ostro on November 4.

For those that don’t want to rely on the arbitrary decision-making of our prize-choosing tortoise to get your tickets, Ostro helpfully suggests that ad folk hoping to woo/placate clients or give their hardworking staff a treat have two options: 1) for those making a day of it, groups of 4 –14 pay $180 per person for a three-course set menu and champagne on arrival. Or 2) for those coming later, groups of 4 – 10 pay $95 per person for a shared plates and canapé selection with champagne on arrival.

For those who like a flutter on the neigh neighs and want the ticket in their hand, it’s one of a few venues in the county to have on-site TAB betting for the occasion. And, in keeping with the aesthetic focus of the event, Ostro will also “encourage a fashionable dress code, with prizes for best dressed male, female and a special prize for the Ostro best hat”.

The race will be broadcast at 5pm on the big screen and there will also be live music & DJs. No word on whether there will be portaloos for well-dressed people to fall asleep beside to add some authenticity.

For those who need some inspiration, here’s a few names that weren’t allowed.
