Suited, booted and salted: Hallenstein Brothers heads to Utah, puts motocross legend in some very different riding gear

Hallenstein Brothers has managed to add a bit of cool factor to its brand in recent years, with some raunchy ads, some trippy ads and some cheeky stunts. Now, on the anniversary of Burt Munro’s land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, it’s released an extreme ad that has called on Crusty Demons legend Carey Hart and his crew to put its new high performance suits through their paces.

“There is some real innovation in the new wool, stretch skinny and Ekocycle suits from Hallenstein Brothers, we thought it would be appropriate to have a truly innovative motocross champion put them to the test in the place where Burt Munro strutted his stuff,” says Lachlan McPherson, creative director at Lachlan McPherson & Friends. “Plus, many New Zealanders think wool just keeps you warm. They aren’t aware that wool is the ideal suit fabric for summer. This film should help shift that perception.”

The film was a collaboration between MTV Award-winning director Joel Kefali (who recently shot a music video for Katy Perry) Thick as Thieves producer Nik Beachman, McPherson and Hallenstein Brothers. And it will air on TV for the first time tonight during the premiere of The Block NZ.

Recently, Hallenstein Glassons advised that its unaudited group sales for the financial year ended 1 August 2014 were $207.98 million, a decrease of 5.5 percent on the prior corresponding period ($220.12 million).

Chief executive Graeme Popplewell said net profit after tax is expected to be in the range of $14.0 million to $14.2 million, a decrease of -25% on the prior year.

“Performance for the second half of the year had shown some improvement on the first half results, but momentum had been insufficient to regain ground lost in the first half of the year. Second half sales were down two percent on the prior corresponding period, with projected earnings down five percent on pcp.”
