Contiki taps social stars to showcase destinations

Kiwi DJ Connor Nestor is set to take centre stage in Contiki’s lastest digital campaign with dedicated online video contests for eight trips with the big OE provider.

The #noregrets Adventure Challenge includes Nestor and other ambassadors for the travel brand, each with big social media followings or popular travel-related blogs and YouTube channels.

Aimed at 18-35 year old travellers, the eight weekly videos set entrants a challenge to answer a question about something in the clip. The hosts tell their story of journeys to a particular destination and offer the chance to win a trip to that country.

Twenty-three year old Nestor hosts George FM’s Saturday night show DPTRCLB and is a former presenter at 95bFM and TVNZ U. He also helped launched TheAudience.co.nz, curating content and hosting a chart show on bNet stations. In addition, he curates Red Bull’s Sound Select.

Nestor has more than 4000 Twitter followers and more than 2200 on Instagram.

Among the other video hosts are Canadian video producer and musician Andrew Gunadie, Australian pro surfer Felicity Palmateer and travel blogger Nadine Sykora. Sykora has been a Contiki ambassador since 2011 and participated in a digital campaign for Contiki last November and December, On The Road Trip.

Other ambassadors in that campaign were food and travel blogger Datev Gallagher, Alli Trippy of Internet Killed Television, actor Troye Sivan, Louis Cole who has the channel Food for Louis, and You Deserve a Drink and Mametown blogger Mamrie Hart.

Last October Contiki launched another digital campaign, #noregretsdays, with skater Sammy Winter skating through Paris’ Cite de la Mode.

The #noregrets branding was created by the global Contiki team and launched in 2012. The introduction video has had 93,000 views.
