Good Morning, Mr Jones

Those fortunate enough to still be at home watching television every weekday morning will have a new face to contend with in 2010 after it was announced Hadyn Jones will replace Steve Gray as co-host of Good Morning, joining Sarah Bradley and Brendon Pongia on the couch to discuss things like gardening and emotions.

Jones, one of Gore’s favourite sons, joined TVNZ in 2003 as a reporter on Close Up, before moving to 20/20 in 2005. He took out the 2006 Qantas TV Award for Best Current Affairs reporter (as well as the Eating Media Lunch ‘perv of the year’ award for his interview with Nikki Watson) and the 2006 Telecom Award for Sports Television at the TP McLean Sports Journalism Awards.

In October 2007, he switched to ONE News, becoming known as something of a human interest specialist for his ‘Good Sorts’ segment.

Jones completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury in 1998 and has previously worked in radio and for CBC Television in Canada.

The three-hour magazine-style show returns to TV ONE on 8 February.
