Ballantine’s presents a skateboarding opera

Filmed at the stunning venue of Teatro Avenida in Buenos Aires, this ad for Ballantine’s whiskey brings together the discrete worlds of opera and skateboarding to glorious effect.

While the advert could easily serve to promote the theatre, opera in general or the idea that there are limitless ways to create art, it’s still unclear how skateboarding in a theatre relates to whiskey in any way.

However, this isn’t the first time that skateboarding and classical music have been united in a video. In this 2011 clip, a classical score sets the mood for a story that tells of the difficult relationship that ants share with skateboarders.
