Miraculous Argentinean hen lays bottles

Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi, based in Buenos Aires, has just a released a hilarious ad campaign for Andes Barley wine that features a bottle-laying hen.

Shot in the rustic setting of Uspallata, Mendoza, with a dimmed camera effect, the ad tells the story of a Che-Guevara-looking farmer who discovers that one of his hens lays bottles of Andes Barley wine rather than eggs.

Upon realising this, the farmer immediately takes a motorcycle journey (without a diary) across the country to show his discovery to family and friends. Unfortunately, for the chicken, the story doesn’t have a happy ending. In a horrible twist of fate, the miraculous hen loses its ability to keep its master happy and ends up on the dinner plate.

This ad is the latest in a series of humorous campaigns with a dark twist by Del Campo Saatchi and Saatchi. Their previous work includes a murderous neighbor who loves his air conditioner and a forlorn lover whose house has been pillaged by his girlfriend.

While Argentinean humour might not work in the Kiwi market, we’re pretty sure that it’s time to start the mass import of chickens from the South American country.
